FIFOTO Blog » weddings

Mondays are like Sundays to me. After working and partying all weekend, Mondays seem to be the only days I get to sleep in! The past couple of weeks have been crazy and exciting! I’ve been an energizer bunny, running at 110% capacity and I’m looking forward to a calmer week this week!

David and I shot Sasha & Yani’s akad nikah yesterday. It was a short and sweet ceremony and the kadi had a great sense of humor! The acclaimed dancer and tv host was no stranger in front of the camera, making my job so easy and photographing Sasha was just effortless!

Here’s a preview of the lovely couple!

A couple of weeks back, Highway and I shot Kenji & Jade’s Wedding. It was a pretty chilled out Saturday (the wedding started at 10am, so no early morning wake up calls for me… !), it rained the day before and it pretty much cleared up the haze, making it a nice cool morning with clear blue skies. The fresh small of rain dew lingered in the air and as with all outdoor FIFOTO shoots, it made a perfect morning for their garden wedding!

I was mesmerized from the moment I walked into Kenji’s house! OK, the garden was already nice when I saw it during the site recce, but this morning, the garden was transformed into something out of a fairy tale, with white & green flowers hanging across the rich, green Japanese grass. It was like in Snow White, when the forest animals came together to decorate the garden to make it an enchanted forest!

The ceremony itself was just beautiful. With soft music from the 4-piece band in the background, bits of very real marriage advice from the Pastor, a little bit of laughter here and little bit of tears there and then it was done, they had become Mr & Mrs Ling Ken Ji!

Punk brides have black nails!

The dinner reception was held in KL Hilton, and again the place was again transformed with the same garden theme. This time, with orange and white flowers and magical lighted flower balls hanging from the ceiling.

One of their friends handmade a humongous wedding cake, made up of 600 cupcakes for each and every guest who came that night. That takes the prize of being the largest wedding cake I’ve ever shot!!

Congratulations again guys!!

Terence & Hui Nee

12.08.2009

Some days are harder than others. Some nights I lie in bed with a hundred thoughts running through my brain, asking myself “What if?” questions. I really hate uncertainty. I hate the unknown. Either way, life goes on and although I try and psych myself into thinking the unknown can be quite exciting, sometimes I think I might just be fooling myself.

If you ask me about Terence & Hui Nee’s wedding, I will tell you one thing, and one thing only - Shu Uemura Designer Eyelashes. Forget about the bugs they ate, or the Coke can Terence tried to tilt at 45 degrees (apparently it’s doable if you drink the right amount of Coke), or the song he tried to sing in Hokkien.  I’m afraid to say it but it’s true.. her eyelashes caught the attention of many, my camera included. What perfected the look was her peacock feathered cocktail dress that completely matched her eyelashes! It was picture perfect! Special thanks to Emilia who did the makeup and made it all work!

In retrospect, I must say, Hui Nee did a very good job with the hand-made decorations. She had even put together a bouquet of flowers for the registration tables and they looked professionally done! She definitely has a flare for it!

Here’s to a sweet couple who work and play together (they literally sit across from each other at work!) Congrats to my very old friend Terence & Hui Nee!

All by Hui Nee! Checkout the flowers!

The smell of freedom is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTT!! Today, I’m officially no longer a hermit! There you go! I said it! I’m no longer a hermit and I plan to gain my social life back with a vengeance! It’s been a torturous few months with nothing but work and school and work and school. I couldn’t even do dinner with friends! But all that discipline was definitely worth it… as I submitted my paper this morning, and twittered/facebooked about my new-found joy, I found out that quite a number of my classmates had extended their deadline! I am sooooooo glad this is over! It feels really good to watch tv without feeling guilty!!

Fiona Lim, BBA, MBA. Woohoooo!

As much as there is to be happy about, I can’t help but acknowledge the other side of my reality. As the academic chapter of my life closes, another chapter of my life has recently ended as well. I believe in fate and want to still believe in happily-ever-after. I think I still do…. I think the weddings I shoot every weekend help me stay positive. Couples like Iziana & Norman give me hope =)

When Steve & I visited Iziana’s last Thursday and saw the partial decorations in the garden, we just knew that it was going to be a fantastic ceremony and were psyched for the shoot! And we were right! On the day, the garden was beautifully transformed - they had the best tents ever…. they were transparent with starlight dangling in the air! More to come soon!
